The Strathmore Spartans season is over.

The Spartans were bested by Cochrane 39-6 over the weekend. Head coach Danny Warrck believes the team had their moments.

"About eight minutes into the second quarter the game started to get away from us a little bit but all and all I was fairly happy with the efforts that were made."

Now, Warrack and the team are getting ready for the next football season, with practices starting today (Nov 6) and tomorrow (Nov 7).

Warrack sent invites to the Grade 9 players on the Strathmore Badgers team.

"The goal is to win, but we are not quite there yet. We are not beating teams that we should be beating. We aren't quite there yet and we don't have the athletes yet."

The expectation is to have 40 kids to start the season including returning players.

"We're hoping to do some more recruiting drives this off-season in the local junior highs and from our own student body. We want to get that number up over 50," Warrack explained.

Warrack leaves off by thanking all of his other coaches and members of staff for this season. He also wants to wish luck to all of the grade 12 graduating players.
