The Wheatland Kings faced off against the Medicine Hat Cubs in last nights game, and with a close game the Kings pulled through with the win.

The first period was a defensive one, but near the end of the period the Kings got their first goal of the game, coming from Hayden Vander Ploeg assisted by Garret Vander Ploeg, ending the first period 1-0 Kings.

The second period got messy when Tavin Straub of the Cubs and Brenden Moore of the Kings each got a 10 minute penalty for misconduct. The Cubs scored their first point of the game with less than three minutes left in the period, but the Kings striked back and got their second point of the game with only one second left on the clock. The period ended 2-1 Kings.

The third period had Robert Butterwick score the Kings third goal of the night just five minutes into the match, assisted by Brenden Moore. Less than a minute later the Cubs scored their second goal of the night. Ultimately, the match ended 3-2 for the Kings.

With such a closely fought match for the Kings, they will be a hard team to beat in their next game coming up this Tuesday against Okotoks at 8:15 p.m. in Strathmore.
