Monday, September 19th will be the official funeral for Queen Elizabeth II; it was announced earlier this week that all federally regulated businesses would be closed on Monday but it was not declared as an official statutory holiday for the country.  The Town of Strathmore will honour the passing of Queen Elizabeth II as well.

Town of Strathmore's CAO Kevin Scoble explained the town is set to have a moment of silence, but they will also be available to serve the residents of Strathmore throughout the day.

"The Strathmore Municipal Building and town facilities will remain open for regular operations. Town of Strathmore staff welcomes Strathmore residents to join us in a moment of silence at 10:00 AM to pay respect to Queen."

The province confirmed Monday will not be declared a statutory holiday for non-federal employees in Alberta, and schools will remain open.

"Albertans, Canadians, and the peoples of the Commonwealth will join together on this day in sorrow to mourn the death of Her late Majesty and to commemorate her long and faithful service," Kenney said.

"I sincerely hope that Albertans find some time on this day to honour the remarkable life of Queen Elizabeth II and I strongly encourage employers and schools to appropriately mark this somber and historic occasion."

The ceremony will be livestreamed on the Alberta government website and social media pages.
