On April 6, Strathmore Mayor Pat Fule released a video statement on the Town of Strathmore Facebook page updating the Town’s response to the COVID-19 virus. Mayor Fule started off by reminding the community that preventing the spread of COVID-19 is possible with a little work.

“By staying home, washing our hands and disinfecting frequently used areas, we can work to slow the spread of COVID-19,” said Fule.

The Mayor also said that with Easter Weekend and Ramadan coming up, people’s strength to isolate and prevent the spread of this outbreak will be tested.

Mayor Fule said, “It is very important that we continue to physically isolate. Please, do not put your family at risk and stay home.”

The Town of Strathmore continues to respond to the outbreak of COVID-19. Last week the Town launched a support line to help Strathmore’s business community. Fule explained a little more about the support line in his statement, “The support line is staffed by a Business Retention Specialist who can help you navigate the assistance programs from the Province and from the Government of Canada.”

Businesses can call 403-361-2138 between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Monday to Friday for assistance. They can also visit the Town’s COVID-19 webpage for businesses at strathmore.ca.

Strathmore also has services to help individuals that may be struggling and need some extra help. The Town of Strathmore Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) office is closed to the public, but they are still available to answer the community’s questions. If you or someone you know is struggling to make ends meet, you can call FCSS’s office at 403 934 9090 between 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., Monday – Friday or email them at FCSS@strathmore.ca.

“Supporting each other is a part of staying connected. You can help others to get through this emergency by calling or texting, simple messages can mean a lot. Please, reach out to your contacts today,” explained Fule. The Mayor wrapped up his statement with, “I want to thank everyone who is working on the frontlines to keep our community safe. Strathmore is strong and we’ll get through this together.”
