A trial was that was scheduled for Amir Abdulrahman, the alleged passenger in the SUV that hit and dragged local community member and Calgary Police Officer Sgt. Andrew Harnett is now being cancelled.  

The accused's lawyer has told the court that there will be a plea with submissions on Wednesday.  

On December 31, 2020, Sgt. Harnett was conducting a traffic stop after noticing a car that did not have matching license plates and registration.  

During the incident, the officer was hit and dragged before he fell and was struck again by another car. He passed away from his injuries. 

The alleged driver of the car who was 18 at the time is scheduled to go to trial on January 31.
