Two people from Calgary have been arrested in connection with the theft of copper wire. Bradley Holtby, 39 of Calgary and Evan Abbs, 27 of Calgary are facing a number of charges which include possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, break and enter with intent, and possession of break-in instruments.

Both men have been remanded into custody.

On January 15, Nanton RCMP acting on a tip from the public, were alerted to a suspicious vehicle west of Nanton. With assistance of the High River Traffic Services, RCMP found the vehicle and arrested two men.

RCMP also seized a large amount of copper wire that was stolen from industrial sites.

“These arrests are a perfect example of community and police working together to keep our community safe. A savvy rancher saw something that he thought was suspicious and called us to come and check on it,” said Corporal Travis Ogilvie, Detachment Commander of Nanton RCMP.

"Without that call, we may not have apprehended these suspects in our rural area,” said Ogilvie.
