The Strathmore Wheatland Kings are riding the high of a two-win weekend!

“We won Friday night, we went to Vulcan to play Lomond and we won in that game. It was a hard-fought battle and a pretty rough affair. Then Saturday we played High River at home and had a pretty good game there," explained Kings general manager Lee Smith.

With a 5-3 win in Vulcan over the Lomond Lakers and a 6-2 win over the High River Flyers, the team is looking to keep that momentum going as they head into this weekend.

Forward Ethan von Egmond earned a hat trick in the victory on Saturday night.  The team has won 3 of the last 4 games they have played and Smith is happy to see the Kings return to the middle of the division ranking.

The team is currently preparing for their upcoming games against Medicine Hat and Cochrane this weekend. Smith said that these teams are tough but the Strathmore Wheatland Kings are fired up to face them.

“We're getting some guys back from the injury list. Josh Alberda was back on the ice after an injury last weekend and that makes a huge difference, we are just preparing as we go, taking it week by week.”

The team is on the road a lot more in November but is looking forward to their next game on Halloween.

“We like the fans to come. We have a little candy deal going on at the doors for the kids. We'd love to see kids in costumes and maybe the occasional adult,” he chuckled.

Tickets for the Kings' next home game on October 31 at 4:15 pm can be found on EventBrite.ca.
