Throughout the day on September 25, United Conservative Party Deputy Leader Leela Aheer, who is also the MLA for Chestermere-RockyView, visited Strathmore.

Aheer was at Value Drug Mart downtown, and later in the day she met with members of Marigold Library System and the Western Irrigation District.

“We are so honoured and blessed to be able to come into Strathmore and let people know who we are, make sure people know who their representative may be, should they choose me in the next election,” said Aheer.

“I would be absolutely honoured to represent such wonderful people. We are here to introduce ourselves to some of the local folks,” she said.

Aheer explained that the purpose of the meeting at Value Drug Mart was to able to chat with members of the community and make herself more accessible to the community.

“We want the folks out here to know who their representative is, and to get to know us and to come and visit and bring their concerns forward. If I am not available that is impossible for people,” she said.

Aheer explained that she is happy to see a new radio station in Strathmore.

“I love radio I am a humongous fan,” she said. “I grew up on talk radio with Dave Rutherford, just listening every single day.”

“Radio for me has actually been the first place where I get all my news, my information, everything,” she said.

“I am very happy about this, extremely happy,” she said.
