Charges have been laid in relation to a motor vehicle incident that took place on the afternoon of Friday August 5th.

Police, emergency crews and firefighters were on scene of a multiple vehicle accident on the Trans Canada Highway in Strathmore on Friday afternoon. The incident occurred at the intersection of Lakeside Boulevard and the Trans Canada Highway.

Staff Sergeant Mark Wielgosz, Detachment Commander, Strathmore RCMP explained,

“There was two vehicle collision that occurred in the intersection. Upon further investigation it appeared that there was a vehicle preparing to turn into the northbound lanes of Lakeside Blvd when a vehicle traveling westbound on Hwy 1 appeared to travel through a yellow light to colliding with the vehicle that was turning.”

No injuries were sustained and no treatment occurred on scene.

The driver of the westbound vehicle was charged under the Traffic Safety Act as a result of the investigation.

As a result, traffic was restricted for a brief period of time until both vehicles were removed from the roadway. It’s believed the highway was cleared within the hour.
