Little Free Libraries can be found all over Strathmore. The libraries, which resemble a miniature house, enable people in the community to take a book, or leave a book. They provide access to books for people who may not be able to get down to the Strathmore Municipal Library.

On September 21, there was a rumour that someone had vandalized one of the libraries near Wildflower Ranch.

According to Rachel Dick Hughes, director of library service for the Strathmore Municipal Library, there was no actual damage done to the Little Free Library, but the books were taken out of it.

“It’s a bit disappointing,” she said. She noted that the library in question was recently installed.

“Overall the community is taking care of them,” she emphasized. Since the libraries were placed in the community, there has only been one real case of vandalism, she explained.
