The Wheatland Crisis Society (WCS) held their first annual golf tournament fundraiser on Friday, August 26th at the Strathmore Golf Club. With over 90 golfers in attendance, WCS sees this as a huge success.

The WCS relies a lot on donations and the generosity of the community and surrounding areas to make sure they can continue to offer the level of care and service that they have provided and grown over the past 29 years.

The golfers in attendance were thrilled with the tournament and for some, it was the first time they had played Strathmore Golf Club. Natasha Fyfe Business Development / Communications Specialist with WCS and tournament organizer said that as golfers were leaving, they were already trying to sign up for next year!

As for the team bringing this back next year, “We've done a lot of fundraisers in the past and we had a really great time bringing a lot of our supporters together, with our staff and our volunteers as well. So it was really great to finally get out and meet everybody and have our staff meet a lot of the people that support us on a daily basis.  And most definitely, we looked forward to doing this again next year," said Fyfe.

The weather was perfect and they could not have asked for a better day, Fyfe noted that is one thing that you do worry about when planning an outdoor event is that mother nature is on your side.

Aside from the weather there were other highlights for the WCS team.

“We had a whole bunch of costumes and teams up, dress up and shared their photos on social media at one of the holes. Also just sitting down and breaking bread together, that was a great way to also bring our community together. ”

These tournaments do not just happen on their own stated Fyfe and without the generous support of all of the golfers who attended and the sponsors, this event would not have come together as well as it did.

In the end, Fyfe said that the golfers and sponsors all came together and raised over $12,000 for the organization.

The fundraising efforts for Fyfe and the WCS won’t stop here the team will be hosting their gala on October 29th with a Harvest Masquerade Gala theme tickets are on sale now and can be bought either individually or in a table of 8 at early bird pricing for $65/ticket or $500 for a table of 8 until Sept 25th at which time tickets will be $75/ticket.
