The Wheatland County Food Bank (WCFB) is well used and is always in need of support. Back to School is just around the corner and Thanksgiving and Christmas not that far away there is always a need for donations.

There is always a need in our community for food donations, as well the food bank will take personal hygiene items they consistently run low on the basics and any donations of those items is taken, these are items the food bank will not purchase to fill hampers.  Currently, Strathmore student Emma Moore has a drive for personal hygiene items going though Em's Donation Project and can be contacted on her Facebook page.

WCFB can prepare up to 800 hampers a year for county residents, as well they work closely with the Christmas hampers program, through this program they are able to support the local schools and supply food for children in need.

They rely heavily on the generous donations of those within the county and work with local business and service organizations to ensure that they can meet the demand. It is not just food that these hampers provide hygiene items as well.

WCFB has seen increases in those in need of this program over the past few years, attributing that to the rise of general day to day costs of living, seeing the increase in food prices and fuel are two of the main factors that they have seen.

There are many ways to help the food bank throughout the whole year, people can provide food donations or cash donations. In addition to that if anyone has time to able to donate WCFB can use you to help with fundraising or food drives, as well volunteer drivers for daily Strathmore pickups and weekly Calgary pickups are always needed.  There are many other opportunities to volunteer with the WCFB any and all help is appreciated.
