Wheatland County is in an extreme cold warning which includes Hussar, Standard, Gleichen, Strathmore, Lyalta, and Carseland.

The cold arctic air will continue this morning with wind chills between -40 and -50 before moderating in the afternoon. It will return overnight into Wednesday. The cold arctic air is expected to remain through until Thursday.

Extreme cold warnings are issued when cold temperatures or wind chill creates an elevated risk to health, such as frostbite and hypothermia.

The coldest wind chill values will be somewhere between -40 and -45.
