The Royal LePage Benchmark in Strathmore presented a $7230.00 to the Wheatland Crisis Society last Friday.

Project Manager for Royal LePage Benchmark Amanda Bazant explains this donation is a part of the Shelter Foundation, which is an organization that all Royal LePage brokerages participate in.

“All the money goes towards specific foundations. We also participate with Children's Cottage Society in Calgary and Big Hill Haven in Cochrane.”

A lot of the money comes from the agents at Royal LePage, as Bazant said a portion of commissions from house sales often goes toward this fund.

Some other ways that money is raised are through special events as well and the brokers at the firm participate in an event called Trek.

“This is an annual event that we have this year; six agents from our brokerages are going. This year, they're going to Ecuador, and they trek to one of the tallest volcanoes. They have to raise this specific amount of money per agent. We also have one agent that's coming from our office, specifically from Strathmore.”

“I think we're going to be doing a couple more events this year in the community that will help raise money for Trek. The funds that will be raised will be going towards the Wheatland Crisis Society. So, I think just stay tuned for what's happening in the area and help us out as much as you can.”

The money that the Wheatland Crisis Society receives goes towards whatever they need so that it can flourish. "It could go towards their operating costs or whatever they might need for their clients and their facility and stuff like that."

The Shelter Foundation has raised $41 million to date and currently supports 200 local shelters and national partners.

The brokers, agents and staff also volunteer and provide goods to benefit the individuals and children residing in their local shelters. Every dollar raised goes directly to helping the more than 50,000 individuals and children who are served each year by the shelters and support programs that are funded locally.
