The Strathmore Arena concession was packed as the Strathmore Wheatland Kings - of the Heritage Jr B Hockey League - handed out their year-end awards on Friday night. 

Team officials, parents, family, friends and sponsors were treated to stories from the Kings' successful season, with recognition to Kings' staffers, volunteers, arena and concession staff as well as the players and coaches.       

The evening was also a celebration of life for former Wheatland King, Kristian Ayoungman, who lost his life three weeks prior to the event. 

Kings' #9 Isaac Benoit will need a new shelf for all his hardware as he was recognized as the team's Most Valuable Player and Top Scorer.  He also received the Strathmore Times Player of the Year Award. 

Other awards went to:

#11 - Lucas Muenchrath won Top Rookie honors

#21 Eric Sandum took home the Most Improved Player trophy

#3 Zach Suntjens picked up the Top Defenceman award

#18 Cole Busslinger was recognised as the team's Hardest Worker. 

Scott Pagenkopf was appreciated for being an Awesome Equipment Manager, Doug Taylor for 10 Years of Outstanding Kings Photographs 2008-2019, and Shelby Berube kept the young men playing at peak performance as the team's Trainer for the past 3 years.  

The Wheatland Kings kept with tradition and also recognized Graduating Players, who were given their jersey’s to keep.

# 6 Hayden Vander Ploeg - Assistant Captain - with the Kings for 4 seasons (entire HJHL Jr B career)

# 28 Brenden Moore - Assistant Captain - with the Kings for 4 seasons (entire HJHL Jr B career)

Not to be overlooked is the Wheatland Kings executive, board of directors, coaching staff, manager Darcy Busslinger and events staff Karla Hammond, Shelly Stewart and Tara Busslinger.
