The Wheatland Kings had a strong showing at their home game against the Red Deer Vipers on Saturday night, but the final score ended up 4-2 Vipers.

The Kings had a strong first period, the first goal of the night went to Kyle Bracko from Adrian Kusu and Robert Butterwick, at the end of the second period, the game was tied 1-1.

Red Deer had two quick goals in the third and the Kings fought back to get the score to 3-2 with their second goal of the night coming at 13:21 from Cole Busslinger assisted by Kody Hammond and Isaac Benoit.  With 4:30 left in the third period the Vipers scored their fourth goal, the Kings were not able to rally back in the game and lost to the Vipers in Saturday nights' battle.

With a record of 2-2-1, the Kings have had a good start to the season, with wins over the Stettler Lightning and Red Deer Vipers last weekend. Last night was a strong showing and they can take that energy into today's game against the Blackfalds Wranglers as they head out to Blackfalds for a 3:30 p.m. game time.

Their next home game is October 12 against the Three Hills Thrashers, they are sitting fourth in the standings looking to improve that over the next couple of games.
