It's been a great couple of weeks for the Wheatland Kings both on and off the ice. Whether it's turning their season around and earning big wins, or supporting local charities, the Kings have had a lot to feel good about recently. This Saturday, the Kings will once again be active in the community with their event, "Shopping with the Kings".

Kings General Manager Lee Smith explained Shopping with the Kings is an event meant to support families who may need some financial help during the holiday season. The Kings chose some families to go gift shopping with and also provide some grocery money to.

"We're going to help them all, with our guys going out and shopping with their kids to get gifts for their parents and for their siblings. And then No Frills have stepped up and we're going to give them gift cards from there," he said.

Smith explained No Frills will be contributing gift cards that will match a donation the Kings make to these families to make the holiday season a bit easier. As for where the idea itself came from, Smith wanted to give a big shoutout to Craig and Jana Kopp with the Strathmore Lions Club, as he said they were the ones that brought this idea to the Kings.

"It's just a really good opportunity for the Kings to be involved in the community and do community-type activities and service to give back to all the fans and the people that come to our games," Smith said.

On top of Shopping with the Kings on Saturday, the team also has a game that night against the Sylvan Lake Wranglers at 8:00 PM. Cheer them on as they look to get redemption from last weekend's defeat at the hands of the Wranglers.
