Election day is fast approaching on May 29.

If you are not able to vote at an advanced or Election Day location, then you can cast your vote at the returning office, which was open since May 2 and will be open until May 29. Offices are open weekdays from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. In Strathmore, the returning office is located beside the Canadian Tire at #105 900 Pine Road.

This election's Returning Officer for the Chestermere and Strathmore area is Sharon Jensen. Jensen explains the reason why residents come to the returning office to vote if they can't on Election Day.

"For instance, someone will be away on vacation, or if they're working out of town or they're going to have surgery, there are a number of different reasons why people can't make it to the advanced polls."

Advanced voting will begin on May 23 to May 27, and you can vote at any of the 300+ locations in Alberta. The advanced poll's location for our electoral division will be at the Strathmore Curling Club, The Chestermere Rec Centre, and The Langdon Field House.

"Those polls will be for the full five days, for the 23 and 27. Then we have a two-day one on the 26 and 27 at the Carseland community hall."

Make sure you check your where to vote card and find out where in Strathmore it will be telling you to go. There are three voting locations in town that you can vote: Westmount School, The Strathmore Civic Centre and Wheatland Elementary.

Make sure that you bring a copy of your ID that has your name and current address listed to the polls on election day and if you want to vote early, make sure that you bring your ID and your where to vote card to the returning officer.
