Wheatland County has been under a fire ban for several weeks, and the Town of Strathmore remains under a fire advisory. While some surrounding counties like Rocky View County have changed to a fire advisory, the Wheatland County Fire Department said at the moment there is no plans to lift the fire ban, and there is currently no timetable to do so. However, they are monitoring the situation everyday and will provide updates if anything changes.

While Rocky View County has changed to a fire advisory, most other surrounding counties remain under a fire ban, such as:

  • Vulcan County
  • Kneehill County
  • Mountain View County

Some other counties like Foothills County are under a fire restriction

Even though Wheatland County has been under a fire ban for an extended period, The Fire Department added they haven't had any problems with people breaking the fire ban, since we have a very respectful community that follows important rules like this to keep everybody safe.
