***Update*** Wind warning ended at 6pm Wednesday evening.

 

Strathmore and area has managed to avoid the rainfall warning that was issued for much of Southern and Central Alberta, but this morning Environment Canada has issued a wind warning for the area, with strong winds expecting to reach 90 km/h today.

Winds will intensify this morning, with gusts reaching 90 km/h in some locations throughout the day and should start to ease later this evening.

Areas listed in the Wind Warning include Strathmore, Siksika Nation, Wheatland County, Rocky View County, Vulcan County, Bassano, and Brooks.

High winds may result in power outages and fallen tree branches. Wind warnings are issued when there is a significant risk of damaging winds.
