With the extreme cold enveloping Strathmore, there has been an increase in service calls for vehicles.
Yacine Belhadj of City Wide Towing and Recovery Services Ltd. in Strathmore talked about the volume of calls. Belhadj explained, “with a decrease in temperatures you are getting a lot of breakdowns.” He said due to vehicle breakdowns, such as hydraulic lines breaking, fuel lines not pumping fuel properly, and vehicles not starting it has led to an immense increase of calls.
Belhadj went on to say that the road conditions and driving conditions are still good.
For wait times, he said “It is kind of hard to say, so we just ask people to be patient, it could be anywhere from within the hour to six hours kind of thing.” Belhadj explained that they are trying to be as efficient as possible to try and get everyone back on the road.
Belhadj said, “If you see vehicles are being towed slow down, move over it really gives us the space to work because we are working on the shoulders of highways and the main roads”. He says to make sure to plug in your vehicles and stay warm in this cold weather.
