With the construction of a new town hall in the works, additional improvement to the area and Kinsmen Park were revealed in an open house on March 12. Many citizens were on hand including the Farmers Market vendors, and they were very enthusiastic about the plans, and the addition of power outlets to the market.
Doug Lagore, Special Projects Manager for the Town Strathmore said, "Kinsmen Park is a jewel for the community, and the goal is to enhance the park by adding a number of activities such as beach volleyball, tobogganing area, washrooms, ball diamond, splash park enhancements, and improved walkways to make the park just that much better."
The baseball diamond will see a huge upgrade in the form of new dugouts, paved tailgate areas, and picnic benches to accommodate the patrons. Currently, there is a wetland to the east across Center Street that will be converted to a nine-hole disc golf course.
Many of the yearly events to the park such as the cars shows and farmer markets were taken into account by adding parking areas, and increased lighting to add more safety to the environment. Also, the parents who frequent the park can increase their activity levels by using the outdoor gym that is placed purposely in the sight line of the playground.
