A new Peace Officer has started working in the community of Strathmore. On January 9 the town council was introduced to officer Michael Payton.

Payton is a long-time member of the community and brings with him experience from the Calgary Police Service and the Alberta Motor Transport Association. He started last Wednesday.

“He will be the protective services lead on Citizens on Patrol as well as the Traffic Advisory Committee. He brings to us a lot of great and innovative ideas for community policing,” said Trent West, director of protective services.

“When I think of community policing I think of uniforms on beats, on streets and on bikes doing community events and supporting the community with service and honour, “ said West.

“I am looking forward to it, it has been a good week so far and I think it will be a good future,” said Payton.
