Conceptual drawings from the town of Strathmore put the new town hall in the middle of the town, at Kinsmen Park.

The town of Strathmore hosted an open house at the Lambert Centre on December 4 as a way for the public to see plans to revitalize the park, and to look at ideas for the community space that will be left behind when the town hall moves.

A good group of people flowed in and out of the open house and town staff and planners were on hand to answer questions from the public.

“There will be multiple opportunities for the public to come and give their input into what they would like to see in Kinsmen Park, including open houses, and probably surveys that will be happening in January,” said Jennifer Sawatzky, Manager of Legislative Services for the Town of Strathmore.

It’s likely construction will begin in 2019.

“We have multiple staff in multiple different locations and buildings that we lease and rent throughout the town. This new building will have enough space so that we can house all of the staff in one building and it will be a one-stop-shop for the public to actually come to access any town service,” she explained.

Kinsmen Park is a central area within the community of Strathmore and the town’s downtown.

“It’s the heart of Strathmore and we really want to vitalize that area of town,” said Sawatzky.

“Bringing over 100 staff members to the downtown core should really help businesses in the downtown,” she said.
