Held on Wednesday February 13, REVS, or Registration, Education, Volunteer Services, is a chance for members of the public to come down to the Strathmore Civic Centre and see all at one time, many of the community groups and services that Strathmore has to offer.

Spring REVS is held from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Strathmore Civic Centre.

Participants can sign up for community groups, volunteer for local organizations, and there will be demonstrations and a chance for parents to sign their kids up for extracurricular activities as well.

This year, The Town of Strathmore’s Cheryl Graff says organizers have incorporated more of the town’s booth. It’s similar to the town’s booth that was at the Fall REVS in 2018.

“We are going to continue that and try to expand and get the word out in what some of the town departments have to offer and some of the support that they give to the community,” she said.

There will be a number of familiar organizations like the Strathmore Handi-Bus, and representatives from the Strathmore Aquatic Centre, The Hub (youthclub), minor sports organizations, hobby groups, emergency management and a bunch of local facilities.

She explained that there are many youth organizatios present, but there are also a number of volunteer groups and service organizations who are always looking for volunteers for people who just want to get involved.

Spring REVS is typically a smaller event than Fall REVS.

“It’s smaller than what the fall one is, so it does enable us to set up a demonstration area for people to take a look at what some of the groups have to offer,” said Graff. She groups in attendance are typically ones that also operate in the spring and summer months.
