The Town of Strathmore is preparing for the springtime melt that should be coming this weekend.
Ty Tomasta, Communications Ambassador with the Town of Strathmore, said that the towns operations department is preparing for the warmer temperatures that should be coming this weekend and next week.
Tomasta said, “we are going to be out making sure roads are clear if there is any snow. We are going to be making sure that catch basins in neighborhoods are clear in drainage routes. Especially in overland areas to make there are ways for water to drain.”
Tomasta explained how residents can help, “if you have a home, and you know there is a catch basin at the bottom of your driveway, make sure its not filled with debris, make sure water is going through it, make sure its not frozen over. In the end those people are really the neighborhood heroes, making sure that those catch basins are clear.”
For storm ponds, like Kinsmen Pond, Tomasta said, “as the weekend comes, and the warmer weather begins to warm up, it's definitely not safe to be on Kinsman Pond.”
This weekend's forecast is warming up to 6 C on Saturday, while next week is reaching as high as 19 C on Wednesday.
