The Strathmore Addiction and Mental Health Clinic is one of many resources local residents can turn to to help cope and overcome their issues. Through counseling and support many people can live a very healthy lifestyle even if they live with mental health issues.
"Strathmore is very lucky due to the closeness of the community and the hard work of the Family and Community Support Service. Strathmore also uses a huge network of resources such as the church and student councilors to help deal with many issue," said Casey Jessen the manager of the Addiction and Mental Health Clinic.
"The most common cases of mental health problems are depression and anxiety. The anxiety can be made more acute due to social media and information bombardment," she said.
There is also a high rate of addiction with mental health issues. The patient will often look for a copping mechanism to rely on for their mental health issue, usually alcohol is the most abused in southern Alberta.
