The Wheatland Kings had a closely fought game against the Medicine Hat Cubs on Saturday. January 26. By the end of the match the win went to the Cubs.

The first period started off with two goals for the Cubs in the first half of the period. The Kings fought back and earned their first goal of the match, earned by Rylee Hebert from Zachary Suntjens, with only three minutes left in the period. This brought the period to an end with a 2-1 Cubs.

The second period had a second goal for the Kings early on, earned by Benjamin Kruse from Chase Clayton. The rest of the period was defensive, bringing an end to the period 2-2 tied

The first half of the third period was defensive, but was broken when the Cubs earned their third goal of the match. The Kings followed up with their third goal of the game, earned by Lucas Muenchrath from Isaac Benoit. Shortly after the Kings got a few 10 minute penalties for game misconduct. The Cubs fought back earning three more goals in power play before the end of the period. The victory went to the Cubs with a final score of 6-3.

The Kings will have the chance to beat the Cubs in their rematch on Sunday, January 27.
