The Wheatland Kings Junior B hockey team held their annual fundraiser on Saturday night.

Tammy Hoff along with her catering crew provided dinner for the guests in attendance. Also, many businesses in Strathmore and Wheatland County participated in the fundraising event by donating items for a silent auction, as well as through continued sponsorship of the team.

Leela Sharon Aheer, United Conservative Party MLA for Chestermere was on hand to support the event. Aheer won the 50/50 raffle of $590 and donated her winnings back to the organization. The team and support staff were shocked and very appreciative of her generous donation.

When asked why they like to play for the Wheatland Kings organization, Eric Sandum from Hussar said, "I play hockey for the love of the sport and the involvement in the community and the thrill of Junior B."

"I play hockey because I enjoy the sport and it is a good way to become involved in the community and meet new people," said Parker Keer, a player from Strathmore.

Over the course of the evening the silent auction, other raffles, and donations from guests in attendance raised over $6,000 with all funds going to the Wheatland Kings organization.

With a performance by Drew Gregory and just over 200 guests in attendance, the night was a success for the organization.
