The South Central Alberta Hockey Wheatland Warriors won the SCAHL Championships in a best of three series against the West Central Tigers.

In the first game the team won 4-2 against West Central on Friday, and by the second game the team beat West Central again 3-2 on Saturday.

Head coach for the team Cody Brown said that the team is definitely excited about winning the championship. He said, “to see all the hard work pay off and getting the results you've been fighting for all year. It's pretty cool to see, and definitely proud of the group we got this year.”

Brown said that he is very proud of the team. “It is a lot of work. You see these guys show up to the rink multiple times a week. At the end of the day you get the result you are looking for. It's pretty cool to see all the time and effort that the guys put in, so I am definitely very proud of the guys.”

“The team we played, played us tough. They didn’t give us anything easy out there, so we had to earn every little bit,” said Brown.

Brown spoke about making it to provincials, “we got there about working hard and sticking to our gameplan, so you don’t really want to change that as you get deeper and deeper into it. We just knew we had to be working hard, control the things we can control, and stick with it.”

Brown talked about what's coming up next for the Warriors. Since the team won the SCAHL Championships, they will now be playing in the AA Bantam Provincials which is taking place in Calgary from March 21-24.
