The Town of Strathmore has an eight-year plan to increase the amount of wheelchair ramps in the community.
The town has developed a wheelchair ramp program, and is now reviewing priority locations.
The 2018-2025 wheelchair ramp program shows the town plans to install about 10 to 15 wheelchair ramps per year.
The program was created to provide more accessible connectivity to parks, schools, playgrounds, and other key infrastructure for wheelchair users, strollers, and other wheeled objects.
This year they have plans to do work around Centre Street and Park Road and the following year Parklane Drive near the canal where there is a pathway.
The meeting revealed that in the future all sidewalks will have wheelchair access where required, for example, at intersections.
