Environment Canada issued a wind warning for the Town of Strathmore, Siksika Nation and parts of Wheatland County on the afternoon of Thursday January 3.
The affected areas include the village of Hussar, Standard, Gleichen, Lyalta and Carseland, as well as near Chestermere, Vulcan and Dalemead.
According to Environment Canada, dangerous wind gusts may cause widespread damage.
The strongest wind gusts may be up to between 120 and 150 km/h at times. It is expected that winds will begin to weaken from the west late on Friday morning.
