Women in the workforce in Alberta were a key contributor to some recovery to the economy in 2018. Women in the age demographic of 25 to 54 years of age were the subject of the study. Some of the key factors were a decrease in the number of oil and gas and construction jobs that are mainly populated by men. There is also an increase in health and social services industries.
Jennifer Neufeld, Project Officer for the Strathmore Entrepreneur Center said, "In the last six months, 81 per cent of the participants for our programs have been female in Strathmore. At the Strathmore Networking Event, a similar percentage was observed in attendance. There is an appetite of mutual growth and working together in a positive way towards our goals in 2019."
Women on average made $2,700 more per year compared salaries from 2017 to 2018.
