The Wheatland Kings split their games over the weekend.

The Kings had a 6-5 win over the Medicine Hat Cubs and a 4-2 loss to the Okotoks Bisons.

Wheatland Kings General Manager, Lee Smith, says that overall the team played pretty well.

"We were right in that game. We probably even might have deserved to win it (Okotoks Bisons)."

Smith says the team is still missing some firepower.

"We still don't have our top players back and we're starting to win again and play good against good teams. So that makes a big difference."

He added the team needs to work on their preparation.

"The guys are starting to buy into that and realizing that we do need to be more in shape. We have also had a lot of guys come back from injury and that doesn't help."

Smith gave kudos to goalie Corey Ross for a fantastic performance on Friday night.

"He was probably the best player on the ice that day. Kage Yellowfly also really stepped it up that game."

The Wheatland Kings will be taking the ice again this weekend as they face the Mountainview Colts on Saturday and then the Ponoka Stampeders on Sunday night.
