Back for the sixth year, the Calgary Stampede Poster Competition is looking for artists between the ages of 15-24 from across the province to submit their vision for the chance to design the artwork for the 2024 Calgary Stampede Poster. Other than bragging rights, there is also $20,000 in Educational Scholarships to be won.

"The Calgary Stampede Youth Poster Competition is a unique youth achievement opportunity that provides talented youth with the opportunity to showcase their talent on a world stage. Generously funded by the Brandon Flock Foundation, the Dustin Peers Memorial Scholarship is one of Canada’s largest art scholarships."

According to the Calgary Stampede, the finalist will be awarded a $10,000 scholarship as well as having their art showcased as the Calgary Stampede Poster Artist. The top spot pick will also have the opportunity to ride in the iconic Calgary Stampede Parade as the Ambassador of the program.

Second-place winners are also eligible for a $5,000 scholarship, while third place will get a $2,500 scholarship. Individuals who place fourth to eighth will receive $500 in educational funding. The 2022 winner was an artist by the name of Kane Pendry who hails from Edmonton.

There are a few stipulations to the contest though as those who wish to participate must be Alberta residents, and the art submissions must be 2D.

The first poster competition began in 1908 and it is estimated that annually over 30,000 Stampede posters are distributed annually. The deadline for the competition is December 2.
