The Wheatland Kings picked up a pair of big wins over the weekend.

The Kings topped the Mountainview Colts 6-1 on Saturday (Nov 11) and then won again against the Ponoka Stampeders on Sunday 10-1.

"We needed to get ourselves back in the standings. We played well in both games," said Wheatland Kings General Manager, Lee Smith.

Philip Raycroft made his season debut this weekend scoring four goals. Smith told StrathmoreNow his skillset was needed.

"We needed him that's for sure. He is going to be a big part of our team going forward."

The Kings had 92 shots on net over the weekend and are now 9-5-2 on the season.

The Kings drive to Coaldale to play the Copperheads on Saturday at 8 p.m.

"We need to beat them, we are continually chasing them in the standings."

After, they're off to take on Sylvan Lake on Sunday at 2:45 p.m.

"They are always tough and are leading the north division."
