A 12-year-old girl was airlifted to hospital after getting hit by a pickup truck.

RCMP say the incident happened yesterday afternoon (Nov. 16) by Drumheller Valley Secondary School.

The girl was transported to the Health Centre in Drumheller and then air lifted by STARS Ambulance to Alberta Children’s Hospital in Calgary. Mounties say the girl has serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

"The investigation revealed that alcohol, drugs, and speed were not factors in this collision," said Drumheller RCMP.

RCMP will continue to investigate the incident.
