It’s unimaginable the amount of support and care that went into this year’s Tim Horton’s Smile cookie campaign in Strathmore. For a community of only 13,000 people, the three local Tim Horton’s restaurants raised $15,110 for a local charity.

Kevin Korpi from Strathmore Tim Hortons Edgefield and Pine Road locations says “Every year during one week in September, Tim Horton’s restaurants across Canada sell Smile Cookies for $1. When we sell a cookie for a dollar, the entire dollar gets donated to a local charity.

So here in town, all three restaurants precipitated and we donated money to FCSS.”

“This is the fifth year we did it, and we’ve raised $52,000 in five years.”

This year the three restaurants raised $15,110.

“That’s more than one cookie per person in town,” he said.

Korpi explained, “The entire dollar goes to the charity, we don’t take anything out for food costs or for packaging, or for anything, it all goes to charity.”

When asked how he feels about the announcement Korpi he said, “I feel great. In fact, it’s one of my favorite things of being a Tim Horton’s restaurant owner, being able to make a positive impact in our community through stuff like this.”

Catherine Walsh, Strathmore FCSS Community, and Social Development Manager says, “Strathmore FCSS is humbled to accept the Smile Cookie funds from Strathmore Tim Horton’s. 100 per cent of the Smile Cookie proceeds are used to help support our community members. The funding is flexible which allows us to provide essential needs such as food, shelter, transportation, photo ID, and other gaps where needed.”

“We want to thank all community members from the bottom of our hearts or participating in this campaign. Without your kindness, this would not be achievable. Thank you.”
