The Strathmore Wheatland Kings had a busy weekend of hockey from November 8 to 10. The Kings had three back to back games kicking things off on Friday the Kings took on the Lomond Lakers and beat them 4-1. On Saturday the Red Deer Vipers overcame the Wheatland Kings with a score of 4-1.

On Sunday The Wheatland Kings faced off against the Coaldale Copperheads. The Kings went into the game missing seven players due to sickness or injury making the game ahead a tough battle. After a back and forth first period, the Copperheads would come out ahead with a 1-0 lead.

The Kings would come out strong in the second period and score on the power play to tie it up, but the Copperheads would answer back with three goals of their own making it 4-1 at the end of the second.

The Copperheads would keep the pressure up, coming out in the third with a goal just two minutes in. The Kings would try and battle back but just couldn’t seem to find the back of the net. The Copperheads would score with just 2 minutes left in the third to secure them the 6-1 win.

The Wheatland Kings next game is Saturday November 16 at home against the High River Flyers.
