Mark your calendar, on Saturday, May 14, Wheatland County will be opening to the public the brand new Carseland Fire Hall.

The public event will be held from 12 to 4 p.m. at the newly constructed hall which is located just outside of the community at 220069 Range Road 260.

We spoke with Michael Bourgon, Wheatland County Manager of Emergency and Fire Services about the importance of opening up the new fire hall to the community.

“The firefighters in Carseland are the heart and the soul of the community, and it's been years of fundraising to get to this to this point. The community has been a huge, huge part of the success of the construction of this fire hall and without the community, this never would've happened.”

He explained that people will be able to come and go at the open house. There will also be activities for families.

“It's an opportunity to come out and meet their local firefighters and see the new hall that they worked so hard for,” said Bourgon.

The open house will feature tours of the fire hall, information for potential volunteer firefighters, equipment displays, and a barbecue with door prizes.
