After a huge push from the community, the Strathmore Wheatland Christmas Hamper Society received a record-breaking amount of donations this year.

The team at StrathmoreNow.com and 104.5 More Country hosted their 2nd annual toy and food drive on November 26 and 27.  Generous donations totaled over a thousand dollars in cash donations and a truckful of toys and food for the hamper.

The following weekend, the Christmas Hamper Society hosted their own successful drive, and to top it all off Strathmore Canadian Tire was collecting donations through their tills for two weeks and their customers stepped up in a big way donating $6,200 to the cause.

“I think the numbers speak for themselves,” explained Canadian Tire owner Michael Tourond. “This is our most successful fundraising effort ever since we started raising money for the Christmas Hamper Society.”

“We asked for $2.00 at the till, but it was incredible how many people gave so much more than that. We are certainly proud to support this and so proud of our community for how generous they were.”

Last year, $5,500 was raised, so the team at Canadian Tire was happy to beat last year's total.

“Strathmore and Wheatland County really come together for us,” explained station manager for 104.5 More Country and StrathmoreNow.com, Whitnee Montgrand. “We had a really good year last year and to top it this year with giving even more to the Christmas Hamper Society is just such a testament to how much this community comes together and helps Strathmore and Wheatland County as well.”

The Christmas Hamper Society is accepting applications and donations until December 13, both can be done directly on their website christmashampersociety.com , also there are donations bins in local businesses in town, the Christmas Hamper Society Team will be delivering hampers on December 17 and 18.
