Disc Golf has hit the town of Strathmore hard. Seeing huge jumps in local athletes and even some homegrown tournaments and fun events.  Local disc golf player Josh Kennedy sees it as a family legacy that he has inherited from his father.  While competing in the Disc Golf Provincial championships junior division that saw competitors from across Alberta and even British Columbia, Josh managed to win first place.  He describes it as a nerve-racking experience that affected his play a little for he did not play as well as he would have liked.   Overall he learned a lot about the sport and met rivals from other regions over the 10 day competition.  Kennedy talks about the next level of play, "I hope to one day go to places like Kansas in the states for World's maybe.  I hope to improve a lot and maybe move up a division because I am only in the junior division."

The training Kennedy does for this sport is not different from his conditioning for other sports he competes in, but the fact that he has two disc golf holes right behind his house does make the commute to practice a breeze.  He describes the convenience of the sport, "A lot of my family plays disc golf, and I get to play with a bunch of friends every week in the league.  So I get to have fun every week.  I get to talk with family during, and I would just like to get better at it."
