The Calgary Flames made the first step towards the Stanley Cup this year by beating Winnipeg in the qualifying round of the playoffs to now reach the first round of the playoffs where they will take on the Dallas Stars.

It sure has been an interesting year for everyone, and everything. The pandemic swept through the world canceling everything, including hockey. There was the uncertainty that the NHL playoffs would even take place this year. Luckily for fans everywhere, the season resumed and now we get to see the Flames play Dallas tonight in the first round.

How do you think the Flames will fare against the Stars?

Personally, I think we have a good chance… as long as we keep up the same intensity that we did in the qualifying round against the Jets. The Flames played some good physical hockey for most of the games against Winnipeg and if Talbot keeps up the great performance in net, I think we’ll do just fine.

Calgary saw some good depth scoring too, getting points from 11 different players on the team.

Sean Monahan, Elias Lindholm, Johnny Gaudreau, Mikael Backlund and Sam Bennett with a pair each.

Milan Lucic, Andrew Mangiapane, Tobias Rieder, Matthew Tkachuk, Dillon Dube, and Rasmus Andersson with singles.

All sorts of scoring from all sorts of players is good news for Calgary fans. As a big Flames fan myself, let's hope the team can keep up the intensity and the scoring opportunities to allow for a long playoff run.

The Flames take on the Dallas Stars this afternoon at 3 p.m.

GO FLAMES GO!

P.S. How do you feel about watching hockey this time of year? Is it weird, or do you like it?
