The process of removing the ice at the Strathmore Family Centre began today. The arena will be closed to the public while crews turn off the ice plant and remove the ice.

Ty Tomasta, communications ambassador for the Town of Strathmore explained that once the ice is removed, the Family Centre will still be used for dry sports like lacrosse, ball hockey, and rollerskating.

“It will not be closed, if people would like to know what the schedule is, they can check out our website,” he said.

“Right now we’ve already begun the ice removal process. We anticipate this to only go on a few more days. It should be a relatively quick process as we’ve got a little bit of a head start on it,” he said.

The town anticipates having the Strathmore Family Centre back open to the public by April 29.
