On Saturday, November 30, the Strathmore Wheatland Kings took on the Red Deer Vipers. The Vipers would strike early in the first to take the lead 1-0. The back and forth action would continue and the Kings would keep it close ending the first period 1-0 with 14 shots for the Kings and 12 for the Vipers.

At the start of the second period the Kings would go on the power play and come out strong and do just what they needed to, tie the game at 1-1. The Kings would keep the pressure on the Vipers and score just a few minutes later to take the lead 2-1. With a five on three power play, the Kings would score again to take a two-goal lead. The goals just kept coming for the Kings as they would score just over a minute later to make it 4-1. The second period would come to an end and the Kings would go into the third with a three-goal lead with the shots 26 for Strathmore and 23 for Red Deer.

The third period would be mostly quiet as far as goals go until about 5 minutes left in the third when the Kings would make it 5-1. Red Deer would respond with a goal of their own just a few minutes later to score for the first time since their lead in the first. The Vipers would rally at the end of the third and pull their goalie which allowed them to score another goal to make it 5-3 but that would be all they could muster. The final score would be 5-3 for the Wheatland Kings, 36 shots for the Kings and 40 for the Vipers.

The Wheatland Kings next home game is Sunday December 8 at 4:45 p.m. against the Okotoks Bisons.
