Miss Strathmore Stampede was brought back in 2022 and Martina Holtkamp was crowned; over the past year she has represented Strathmore and Wheatland County proudly and also took part in the Miss Rodeo Canada competition.  Her term will come to an end at this year's Strathmore Stampede and a new Queen will be crowned.

Chair of the Miss Strathmore Stampede Rodeo Queen Committee Nikki Peltzer was thrilled with the dedication Holtkamp brought throughout her year as Miss Strathmore Stampede.

"Martina's done a fantastic job, especially the social media part of it, she's gone well above what we expected and what we've asked from her, and then the appearances that she's been doing, I think she's gone almost every weekend doing something."

When it came to deciding whether to continue with Miss Strathmore Stampede after its return last year Peltzer said the decision was easy for the committee.

"We believe the Queen plays a large role within the community and is a face for the organization and for the rodeo itself. They are ambassadors for the rodeo way of life and the western way of life and the culture, and it's great being able to visit people and tell everybody about Strathmore, Wheatland County, and the rodeo."

The contestants will compete in a variety of different categories including but not limited to horsemanship, public speaking, a written exam, and a personal interview.

The judges for the competition are from the community which Peltzer believes is vital to the success of who is chosen to represent the community as Miss Strathmore Stampede.

"Last year the Mayor was a judge for our public speaking so it's great because he's got a stake in this too, our Queen will represent the town so we like to draw locally and have everybody specialized in their field."
