A beloved annual fundraiser for the Children's Miracle Network has been cancelled this year due to COVID-19.

Dairy Queen’s Miracle Treat Day unfortunately isn’t going to happen at this time explained Strathmore Dairy Queen Owner, Sheila Gordon.

“Well, of course, it is because of COVID. We have thousands of people flooding our stores on Miracle Treat Day so we couldn’t risk that happening during this pandemic.”

All proceeds from every blizzard usually go towards The Children’s Miracle Network that day, and while it is disappointing, Gordon said they will still be doing something for the cause.

“We are going to be doing something in October. There is a couple of options, we may do one or the other or possibly even both. Two dollars from the price of every blizzard will go towards the Children's Hospital, or five dollars from every cake will go towards the hospital. The details aren’t completely ironed out yet but there will be something happening in October.”

Gordon mentioned that she is interested in doing both of the options for the cause. They have reduced the donation amount to still keep physical distancing measures low during the day.

“It is a real disappointment, but knowing how packed we are during Miracle Treat Day, I know it was something that we couldn’t have done during this pandemic.”

You can still donate The Children's Miracle Network here.
