Last week the Town of Strathmore Municipal Offices closed down for parts of Wednesday, Thursday, and all day Friday. This was a precautionary measure as a town employee at the office had come into close contact with a confirmed case of COVID-19. While the office was closed, all staff at the office worked from home and underwent testing for COVID-19. All employees received negative test results.

Communications Strategist Geoff Person said, “We’ve had time to plan for situations like this. That’s why even though the offices themselves were closed we were still able to carry on with all the same essential services and work that we would normally do when they’re open.”

The Town Office was closed to allow for deep cleaning and sanitizing and reopened on Tuesday with a few new safety measures in place.

Person explained, “For the time being, all staff when we’re in the common areas, we’re all wearing masks. Besides that just some additional enhanced cleaning procedures, reminders on physical distancing, and the same public health protocols that we’re really reinforcing to the public as well.”

Visitors to the Municipal Offices and other town facilities will not be required to wear a mask as long as physical distancing can be followed. Residents are advised to be aware of and follow all other health measures when out in public.

Person said, “Everything that the Town of Strathmore is doing is in an abundance of caution. We want to protect people's safety and we’re always going to take those measures that are appropriate to protect the safety of the community.”
