Off The Rails, a 5.2 km run, has been put on for the past three years and is getting bigger each year.

This year the team behind Off The Rails approached the Town of Strathmore's Community Investment Fund (CIF) committee. There is a budgeted amount each year that is available to organizations that do a variety of events in the community.

The Off The Rails committee applied for funding and Stacy Devine, a committee member, was at the town council meeting on April 3 when the application was being presented to the council.

At the April 3 town council meeting the town decided to go with the committee's recommendation for the funding to Off The Rails.

"It was approved, there's a process they have a community investment fund committee that reviews all  the grant applications and then makes recommendations to the town," said Devine.

Off The Rails is a combined effort of the Strathmore Run Club and the Strathmore and District Agricultural Society, when Devine was talking about this event she shared one of the hopes for the event, "We do want it to be a family event so we do encourage the whole family to come out and do it together, it is a free event there is no cost."

Devine is excited to share her love of running with those in Strathmore "I'm looking forward to just the community spirit to see everyone out with their families getting active doing things outside that we love to do we know everybody else will love to do it too."

The event will take place on June 15 and registration will take place on April 15, with only 500 spaces available Devine expects it to fill up fast.
