Strathmore Municipal Enforcement and Origin Malting and Brewing held a Seized Property Auction on July 13.

Michael Payton, Senior Peace Officer for the Town of Strathmore explained, “The RCMP had all this seized property that they couldn't find owners for. They had two choices, they had to destroy it or auction it.”

The choice was made to auction the items to give the community the chance to buy products at a reduced rate.

If someone who was a victim of crime recognized a piece of their property at the auction, they could identify it to the RCMP, and get it back.

The auction had items that had been seized by the RCMP over the past year. These included welding materials, electronics, various tools, household items, and jewelry.

All the funds raised from the auction will go to a local charity.  By the end of the day, the auction was able to earn over $12,000.
